GPS Function

Your SPC Polaris Pure includes GPS functionality so that you can share your location with the people you choose through the SPC Care app, or send your location when you activate the SOS function in an emergency situation.

This function is disabled by default to prevent excessive battery consumption for people who do not need this function, but activating it is very easy, both from your SPC Polaris Pure device (on the phone, navigate to Menu -> Connection -> GPS -> On) and from the SPC Care app (once you have your device linked to the app).

To better understand how GPS works in each situation, below we provide an explanatory guide for each scenario.

SOS emergency situation:

You do not need to activate the GPS function directly to use it in an emergency situation, because when you have activated the last option in the SOS settings, Send location, and activate the SOS function by pressing the dedicated rear key, the device will search for the nearest satellite signal so it can send its location.
When it is not possible to obtain a satellite signal because the device is indoors or because there is no good GPS signal, the device will obtain the cell tower location and send it. Although this location is not as precise as a GPS satellite location, it is an approximate location that will allow us to know where the SPC Polaris Pure user is located.

This information will be sent in 2 different ways:

  1. By SMS to the SOS Contacts list that you have preconfigured in the SOS options on your SPC Polaris Pure. This SMS will include a link that, when opened on the contact's smartphone, will show the location (GPS or cell tower) on a map.
  2. Through a notification in the SPC Care app. This option is more immediate, so we recommend installing and registering for the app, and linking the device.

Normal use in the SPC Care app:

The SPC Care app automatically provides the SPC Polaris Pure's location every hour when GPS is enabled.

At night, between 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM, the location will only be obtained automatically every 3 hours to save battery.

It also allows you to obtain the location manually by requesting the real-time location.

* Indoor location is approximate because, as this is a mobile device without a Wi-Fi antenna, the location is based on the satellite connection.

Indoors, due to structures such as walls or ceilings, this satellite connection is weakened, reducing the possibility of connecting to the satellites needed to obtain the most accurate location possible.
This may result in variations in the position that is sent.

To obtain a more accurate location, ideally place the device as close as possible to a window.
