How to Set Up the First Digital Supervision in SPC Circles

Parental supervision is a feature of SPC Circles designed to help a person, usually a minor, use their device with limits, schedules, and rules adapted to their age.

This setup is done by a circle administrator.

It’s not about monitoring, but about accompanying. The goal is to agree together on how the device will be used, which apps will be available, how much time can be spent on them, and what family rules will apply.

The initial setup works as a starting proposal. You can modify it during the process or later from SPC Circles.

1. Start Digital Supervision

When there is a circle and a person with the Supervised role, a card may appear on the main screen to start their digital supervision.

Tap Set Up to begin.

If you prefer to do it later, tap Not Now.

2. Growing Together in the Digital World

Digital supervision helps decide how the device will be used.

It allows you to define times, apps, and limits appropriate for the age and needs of each person.

The setup should be done clearly and through conversation. The supervised person should know the limits and understand their purpose.

Tap Start to continue.

3. Important Ideas Before Starting

Before setting limits, keep in mind three ideas:

Age-Appropriate
You don’t supervise an 8-year-old the same way you do a 14-year-old. Limits, schedules, and apps should be adapted to their stage.

Discussed, Not Imposed
Digital supervision should be agreed upon with the supervised person. It is not a hidden setup.

Everything Clear and Visible
The supervised person can know the setup and understand how device use has been organized.

4. Choose Which Device the Supervised Person Uses

For parental supervision to be applied directly on the supervised person’s device, it’s necessary to indicate what type of device they use.

You can choose from these options:

They Have an SPC Device
Select this option if the supervised person uses a compatible SPC device. In this case, SPC Circles can continue with the parental supervision setup.

They Have Another Device
Select this option if the supervised person uses another type of device. Currently, parental supervision is only available for SPC devices.

Parental supervision requires a compatible device to apply the configured limits, schedules, and rules.

5. Set Up Kite on the Supervised Person’s Device

To apply parental supervision, it’s necessary to set up Kite on the supervised person’s device.

Kite is the app that enforces on that device what is agreed upon from SPC Circles: usage times, apps, schedules, and limits.

This step is done on the supervised person’s device.

Tap How to Do It? if you need to see the instructions.

Tap I Have Set Up Kite when Kite is configured and ready to continue.

6. How to Set Up Kite

To prepare Kite on the supervised person’s device, follow these steps:

1. Make sure Kite is installed
If you don’t find Kite on the device, download it from Google Play Store.

2. Open Kite
When opening Kite, since the person is already linked via SPC Circles, the app will recognize their user.

3. Create a PIN
The PIN is important because it will be used to modify rules later.

4. Grant the necessary permissions
Kite needs permissions to enforce the agreed limits and rules. Without these permissions, parental supervision will not function properly.

When finished, tap Ready!.

7. If Kite Is Not Yet Set Up

If Kite is not set up, SPC Circles will not be able to continue with parental supervision.

In that case, set up Kite first on the supervised person’s device and then return to SPC Circles.

Tap I Have Set Up Kite when you have completed the setup.

If you need help, tap How to Do It? to see the steps again.

8. Choose the Age

Select the age range of the supervised person.

The age helps SPC Circles propose a more suitable initial setup.

You can choose from several ranges, for example:

  • 6 to 10 years
  • 10 to 12 years
  • 12 to 14 years
  • 14 to 16 years

This selection serves only as a starting point. You can adjust the setup later.

9. Choose the Level of Freedom

Select the initial level of freedom.

Profiles help you get started if you’re not sure what limits to apply from day one.

Strict
More protection and less usage margin. It’s a good option to start with stricter limits.

Balanced
Clear limits, with room to discuss and adjust rules.

Lenient
More trust, broader rules, and greater freedom.

These profiles are not final. Times, categories, apps, and permissions can be customized during setup or later.

10. Review Apps and Categories

SPC Circles organizes apps by categories to facilitate setup.

You can find categories such as:

Social
Contacts, Gmail, Meet, Messages, or other communication apps.

Music
Music apps, like YouTube Music.

Images
Photo or gallery apps.

Each category can have its own limits. Enter each one to review or modify its settings.

11. Set Usage Time

Inside each category, you can enable or disable the time limit.

With the limit enabled, you can define the maximum daily usage time. When it runs out, apps in that category will be blocked.

You can also adjust time by day of the week.

For example, you can allow more time on weekends and less time during weekdays.

If you disable limit time, that category will have no time limit.

12. Review Important Contacts and Apps

Before finishing, review the necessary apps and contacts for daily life.

The idea is not to block everything but to decide what the supervised person needs to communicate, study, play, or use the device safely.

You can allow necessary apps and limit other categories that require more supervision.

13. Finish Digital Supervision

When you finish reviewing age, supervision level, apps, categories, and limits, digital supervision will be set up.

From that moment on, SPC Circles will apply the agreed configuration.

You can modify it anytime from the app.
