Can I use SPC Kite and Google Family Link at the same time?

The short answer is no, not completely, and it is not recommended if you want to make the most of SPC Kite.

What you need to use SPC Kite properly

For SPC Kite to work as designed, with smooth, progressive, and frictionless use, it is necessary to:

Use the device without active supervision from Google Family Link

This allows:

  • Access to apps and content without external blocks
  • Managing the experience fully from SPC Circles
  • Avoiding conflicts between settings

How to disable Google Family Link (what you need to know)

Before starting, it is important to understand that the process depends on the age associated with the account:

If the child is under 13 years old

  • Google requires the account to be supervised
  • Family Link cannot be removed directly
  • The only alternative is to use an unsupervised account

This is consistent with Google's own operation, where child accounts are obligatorily linked to parental supervision.

If the child is 13 years old or older

  • Supervision can be disabled from Family Link
  • From that moment, the account is no longer controlled by the system

This allows the device to be used with greater freedom and enables a complete experience with SPC Kite.

Alternative if you already have Family Link

If you have already set up the device with an account under 13 years old and want to switch to using SPC Kite as the main solution, you only have one option: start over.

Android devices do not allow disabling Family Link once configured, even if the account is changed, because the service is installed at the system app level. Therefore, the only option to start over is to factory reset the device and set it up with an unmanaged email account (declared age 13 years or older).
