Basic functions

The SPC SMART CLAN app has 5 menu options at the bottom to access the different functions of the watch and the app.

Chat

This menu has four options:

1. Video call: Tap this option to make a video call to the watch.

The video call uses mobile data or Wi-Fi if it is set up.

On the watch, only the remote image is shown. In the app, both the watch image and your own image are visible. The video call is limited to a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

2. VoIP Call: This function is similar to the video call but audio only, no video. It establishes a two-way voice communication. You can also receive VoIP calls from the watch.

3. Chat with watch: Allows you to have conversations via voice, text, and emojis.

From the app, you can send text messages and emojis using a keyboard, and voice messages by pressing and holding the bottom button:

4. Family chat: This is a group chat between the child and all family members/caregivers.

Notifications will only show chats you participated in, not those between the child and other family members.

In the top right corner, there is an icon to access the Notifications screen. You can also access this screen from the bottom menu.

NOTE: The maximum number of characters for text chat is 30.

Locate

This screen shows the location of the watch on the map. This position is based on the configured Positioning Mode.

You can manually request the location by tapping on “Current position”:

The watch icon  shows the connection status between the app and the watch.

If it’s green, like in the figure, it means it’s currently connected. If not, there’s no connection at that moment. Remember, the watch is not always connected — only when needed.

If you can’t connect, first check that your device has internet access. If it does, then the watch is not connected (maybe out of coverage).

On the left side of the screen, there’s an icon showing the battery level of the watch:

In the top right, you have the following buttons:

  • Button to switch to satellite view:

Toggles between map view and satellite image view.

  • Button to view location history:

You can access positioning data for today, yesterday, and the day before by selecting the top buttons.

At the bottom, you’ll find controls to replay the route, change the speed, and stop at any point.

To the right, buttons to zoom in and out of the map.

  • Button for additional features:
    • Find watch: Opens the Maps app to get directions to the watch.
    • Positioning mode instructions: displays explanatory text on how positioning is done.
    • Positioning mode: Defines how often location data is obtained. There are three modes:

        • Normal mode: every 9 minutes.

        • Power saving mode: every hour.

        • Sleep mode: gets location manually only.

Location times are approximate (e.g. every 9 minutes may vary slightly).

The watch will obtain location data according to the configured frequency. Shorter intervals consume more battery.

There are three positioning modes, ordered from most to least accurate:

  • Satellite positioning: Supports GPS and GLONASS. Best accuracy outdoors is about 10 meters, but not ideal indoors.
  • Wi-Fi positioning: The watch scans for nearby Wi-Fi access points and calculates its location. Accuracy is around 50 meters.
  • Cellular network positioning: The watch uses mobile network data (e.g., GSM) to estimate location. Accuracy is around 500 meters.

The watch also includes two features to improve positioning:

  • A–GPS: Combines mobile network and GPS data for faster and more accurate location — approx. 10 meters.
  • Acceleration sensor: Helps determine movement status and position.

NOTE: During positioning, the watch automatically chooses the best method based on the environment. You don’t need to select it manually.

The location might not be available for several reasons:

  • Poor GPS signal, for example inside a car or at high speed.
  • The watch is stationary, not moving.
  • The watch has no connection.

Phone

This screen gives direct access to the dial pad and lets you make calls to the watch or any other phone number.

This screen may vary depending on your phone’s dialer interface.

Notifications

This screen displays notifications from the watch in chronological order.
